Interventional Radiology Strategic Simulation

This simulation was commissioned by Dame Sally Davies, Director of Research, Department of Health after consultation with Professor the Lord Darzi and the Chief Medical Officer, Sir Liam Donaldson.

The game invites two hospital trusts to overcome the barriers to wider adoption of Interventional Radiology. Working with special advisors from the Chief Medical Officer's office and the Director of Research, Simulstrat has devised a mission that will produce innovative solutions to the numerous and complex obstacles that confront health strategists in this area of transformational change.

This game will be deployed for the first time at the Healthcare Innovation Expo on June 18th and 19th at the ExCel centre in London Docklands and will then be made available to NHS Trusts as a tool to assist in managing change.

The Simulstrat pandemic flu wargame scenario was developed to test the UK health infrastructure. This game has been updated to allow continuity teams and executive management to rehearse a blended threat involving flu pandemic and an extended recession or a further shock to financial markets.

Simulstrat runs business wargames and simulations based on wargaming methodology to test and validate the assumptions behind key business strategies. It models problems, explores solutions and helps develop strategies, resilience and training.

Business wargaming and simulations force participants to make decisions and respond to the external environment (represented by experts) to test the robustness of their assumptions and see the consequences of their decisions in a "safe" environment.
